This is the last sale. And we’ll give you all an offer you can’t refuse. This sale lasts 4 days only from 4th to 7th April. This is all in the midst of packing. So, our opening hours for these 4 days are a bit crazy. We should be still open around midnight. Here’s what to expect:

These statues are going at $20 each. Buy 5 or more for $12 each.

TPBs, Graphic Novels, Hardcovers at USD x 0.7. Buy 8 or more for USD x 0.6, 20 or more at 0.5.

For sake of comparison, 0.7xUSD is like having a 50% discount coupon at that big japanese bookstore.
0.5xUSD is like having a 70% discount coupon at same said bookstore.

Selected statues and mini busts at QUOTE YOUR OFFER.

All back issues at 70% to 90% off.

Action figures at QUOTE YOUR PRICES

Manga at $9 each. Buy 10 or more for $5 each

Assorted T-shirts start from $15.

NAME YOUR PRICE.

NAME YOUR PRICE.

NAME YOUR PRICE

Name your prices. If it’s right, you’ll get them. If it’s too low, your name and photo might just appear here as EL CHEAPO of the Year. 7th April is the LAST LAST DAY. After that, it’s major packing.

** Another thing. To all you people in the legal profession, if I break my lease agreement and my agent has found another tenant to pick up the remainder of my lease without any gaps, am I still liable to pay a penalty? I found a reply here, but was unsure if this applies to Singapore law.

Transfer is Complete

Posted on March 7th, 2008 in Shop Events by colin

I’ve transferred all your reservation and pull lists to Bernard from G and B Comics at #03-47 Bras Basah Complex, tel: 6837 2280. You can also email him. Bernard’s handphone number is 9025 2922, and I’ve assured him that you customers won’t be calling him after hours. G and B’s website is comic.com.sg

Speaking of which, this website, comicbooks.sg will remain, as well as your subscription to the atomics comics mailing list, unless you wish to unsubscribe. I’m not sure what the future holds for me, but you’ll be sure to hear about it here on this same blog.

Closing

Posted on March 6th, 2008 in Shop Events by colin

Hi,

The better half of my day today I spent calling all the customers who had pull/reservation lists with me. It’s already the end of the day, and I’ve only touched on 20% of the lot of you.

I will be closing this business. Like one long-time customer quipped, I’ll be ending a chapter that took 14 years writing. Although I like this new place I moved into, I wasn’t getting the sort of walk-in business I was getting used to in Orchard MRT. So, this is a good time as any to end this business and look for another career to go into.

As for your reservation lists, I have already negotiated the terms with Bernard from G & B Comics at Bras Basah Complex, and he is agreeable to offering you all the same rates I offered you. IF YOU ARE AGREEABLE TO MOVING YOUR RESERVATION LIST TO G & B COMICS, PLEASE EMAIL ME AS I HAVE TO NOTIFY BERNARD OF THE DETAILS.

My last shipment was last week. So, effective this week, you should be going to G & B for your comics. I hope the transition will be smooth. For those of you who have not picked up your books yet, you can come by and collect the remaining stash from me before end of March. Hopefully, I can get another tenant to take over this lease. Everything in this shop is up for sale, so you want anything, I’m sure I’ll be able to give you a good price.

I thank all of you for your support over the years. I enjoyed your patronage, and as one customer also said, for being his “steady supply of sanity.” I hope you will leave your comments here.

Countup Week One

Posted on February 4th, 2008 in Rant, Shop Events by colin

It’s 1.30 am, Monday morning and I’m still perched behind my Macbook in FESC. I’ve just completed the DWS checklist, added Umbrella Academy issues 5 (on sale now)and 6 (pre-orders only) to the online shop, watched Rob Reiner’s “The Princess Bride” for the umpteenth time, and completed Week One at the new place.

Definite Pluses, as compared to old place:

Clean restrooms here - have you seen the state of the restrooms in Orchard MRT? Swamp Thing wouldn’t have dared venture in there on Sundays! He be borrowing Lex Luthor’s armor for that. He could do it outside, but you know how tough the fines are.

Quelled the Plague of Dumb ☠☠☠☠s - so far… actually beginning to miss them, fodder for the Rant category

Air-con actually works in this place - in fact, even when the management here shuts the air-con off at 9 pm, it still remains relatively cool until around 4 am.

No rumbling and constant feeling that the roof’s gonna give way - peace and quiet here

Wireless@sg is quite fast - back there in the underground, I had M1 broadband going at speeds slower than 9600bps dialup.

Easy access here - no frustration, aggravation, disruption, nor irritation.

7-11 is downstairs

Space, the final frontier - Lots of real estate in the new shop, not as cramped as the old one. In the old place, if you had to get past someone in the aisles, you two gotta be married first.

If you are in the Orchard Road area and would like to visit, there’s only one thing to look out for to see if @omics Comics is open, look for the BIG RED ‘S’ sign.

If it’s lit, @omics Comics is open for business. But if the door’s locked, I’m probably away trying to look for a phone booth or something, just call me.

If it’s not lit, but you sorta see some kinda illumination within the shop, chances are I’m charging the ring or firing up O.M.A.C., and you can call me to see if it’s ok to visit.

Countdown to Brand New Day: 2 hours

Posted on January 28th, 2008 in Shop Events by colin

I haven’t slept a wink. Up all night tidying up, and the place still looks a mess. The Decree of the day is I will be opening an hour late at 12 noon. This gives me 3 hours of sleep. It is good to be king.
