1st rant and many more to come…

Posted on January 31st, 2007 in Rant by colin

“I’m in a semi-hardened bunker with artillery and mortar rounds flailing in, slamming into the ground above us, the entire establishment shuddering under the quake. The enemy has bulldozers and drills, but we stand undeterred, going about our business in an orderly fashion.” That’s how it feels like in Orchard MRT right now. Orchard Turn above us is being built. What was it? Tallest shopping centre in all of the Orchard district. And they’re only bulldozing the basement level right about now. Darn.

Every other day, there’s these techies coming in with their instruments to measure the displacement of the ceiling from the construction. There’s got to be some discrepancy, right? The lights above are squeaky clean now, the rattling has vibrated every dust particle from every crook and cranny above. It probably measures a 4 on the Richter Scale but the instruments still measure normalcy?? Would these engineers even tell us if it wasn’t? Well, I haven’t tried asking, but I will.
Hey, I shouldn’t be complaining. At least, my landlord opened the the main entranceway leading to my store. Maybe a lot of people bitched and they listened, or it was affecting their business, or a combination of other factors, whatever, I ain’t complaining. I’m reminded of what a gourmet coffeeshop owner said of his store, if the people couldn’t tell that his coffee was the better cup from next door’s, then he probably doesn’t deserve their business anyway.

Darn. Here comes the artillery fire again. That was a short break. :)
